The Basics About a Law Degree
The Bachelor of Laws (LL.B., LLB.) is an undergraduate, or bachelor, degree in law awarded in Canada to provide a scholarly education, and therefore requires additional education or training before a graduate is authorized to practice law. It is sometimes referred to as graduate degree because previous university education is usually required for admission. In the US, the Doctor of Law (J.D) degree is the required degree for the practice of law.

Master's of Law (LLM) - appropriate for those who want to earn an advanced degree in a sub-field of law with a view to pursuing a specialized law practice, research or teaching career

Graduate Law Diplomas/Certificates - supplements an already established area of expertise in law or adds value to a previously earned Bachelor's or graduate degree in a different, but related discipline. Is designed to provide students with a specialized knowledge that is less extensive than a Master's or PhD in law
